International
Masterclasses in Serbia 17th
Masterclasses 2021 (Belgrade, N. Sad, Niš, Kragujevac)
The International Particle Physics Masterclasses is
Serbia are organized by Universities of Belgrade, Novi
Sad, Niš and Kragujevac, in conjunction with the International
Particle Physics Outreach Group, and will be held on
Friday, March 19th (Novi Sad, Kragujevac)
Tuesday, March 23rd (Belgrade, Niš)
The aim of the Masterclasses is to introduce an exciting
and rapidly developing scientific field dealing with some
of the fundamental secrets of the nature to the 4th year
high school students. The lectures given by
active researchers and professors will bring
insight into topics and methods of basic research of
matter, particles and forces acting between them, thus enabling
students to perform exercises with the real data
from particle physics experiments performed at CERN,
Geneva.
During the same day, students will be able to get a
feeling of the university life and to experience at first
hand some of research being performed at six Serbian
scientific institutions: "Vinča" Institute of Nuclear
Sciences, Faculty of Physics and Institute of Physics in
Belgrade, Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad, Faculty of
Sciences and Mathematics in Niš, and Faculty of Sciences
Kragujevac. At the end of the programme, students will
also have an opportunity to take part in the
videoconference and discuss results with other
students and scientists across the world. This
videconference will be mediated by scientists in CERN,
Geneva.
Due to the COVID-91 pandemic, Masterclasses
programme in 2021 will be organised virtually
using the Zoom platform (both for lectures and for hands-on
exercises). All the technical details will be communicated
to the selected students in due time.
Inquiries and registration
Selection of participants in the Masterclasses programme
in Serbia will be performed according to their interest in
physics and general science, including their performance
at the competitions in physics and involvement in various
physics-related projects.
Interested student
should apply for participation in the program via
the public online application

The IPPOG Masterclasses in Serbia in previous years
The Masterclasses Serbia programme has been organised in
Serbia since 2009. The number of students and guests which
are selected for the program is increasing each year, and
last year there were about 250 participants attending the
program at the universities of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and
Kragujevac.
A short video report on the Masterclasses programme,
compiled by the "Radio-Televizija Srbije" (RTS) in 2015,
was presented in the scientific
show "Kontekst 21". And here you can find a video
report on the programme complied by the "Radio-Televizija
Srbije" (RTS) in 2012, with the original RTS article being
